Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
MatchCast is an iPhone app for filming sports matches and streaming them with a live scoreboard. It is run by Anthony Mifsud, an individual based in Malta ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data MatchCast handles, why, and your rights. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect and why
- Account: your name and email address, or your Apple ID relay email if you use Sign in with Apple. Used to sign you in and show your name to teammates.
- Teams and matches: team names, team colours, member names, invite codes, and the score, clock and settings of matches you share with your team. Used so phones in the same match stay in sync.
- Connected streaming accounts: if you connect Facebook or YouTube, the app receives an access token and the names of the Pages or channel you choose. The token is used only to create, start and end live videos you ask for. It stays on your phone and is not sent to our servers.
- Stream keys: stored only in your iPhone's Keychain and sent only to the streaming server you entered.
What stays on your phone
Camera and microphone are used only while you film. Video goes directly from your phone to the streaming platform you choose, and recordings are saved to your Photos. Sponsor logos and pause-screen images you add are stored on your phone. We don't receive any of this.
Tracking
Facebook only allows apps to access your Facebook Pages when you allow tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency. MatchCast asks for this permission only when you tap "Connect to Facebook". If you allow it, Facebook's software may collect device information under Meta's Privacy Policy. MatchCast turns off Facebook's automatic app-event logging and advertising-ID collection, and does not track you for advertising itself. You can turn tracking off any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Service providers
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore): stores your account and team data. Servers may be outside the EU; Google uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, and subscriptions bought through the App Store.
- Meta (Facebook) and Google (YouTube): only if you connect them, to run your live streams.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Legal basis
We process your data to provide the app you asked for (performance of a contract), and with your consent for tracking and for connecting Facebook or YouTube. You can withdraw consent at any time.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept until you delete your account. Delete it in the app: tap your initials on the home screen, then Delete account. This removes your profile and your team memberships. Teams and the match scores shared with them stay available to the team's other members. To have a team and its match history deleted entirely, email [email protected].
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how it is used. Email [email protected]. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to Malta's Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idpc.org.mt).
Children
MatchCast is not intended for children under 16 without a parent or guardian's consent.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
